Sometimes going full speed would let me allow jumping over a ramp sometimes it wouldn’t. The worst thing is how unreliable everything is as nothing feels consisted. Bumping into a wall occasionally rockets’ you into a random direction at high speed and breaking is surprisingly hard considering all you need to do is hold down one button. Objectives are all very much like in the old games: Get a high score, perform a specific trick over an obstacle, collect the letters to spell the word ‘Skate’ and find other random items. Robomodo acknowledges this and so that’s all get to do in Pro Skater HD initially. And you know what? That’s all you really needed. Sure, it was labeled ‘Career mode’ but in reality it was just a bunch of loosely connected levels without any narrative to hold it all together. The franchise has seen a steady decline in quality over the last years and hit rock-bottom with the release of Ride and Shred in 20 respectively. In Pro Skater 2 you could play as Spider-Man so that alone made it my favorite game back then. After all, the Tony Hawk franchise was one of my favorites back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. A while ago though it was on sale on the PSN when I accidentally stumbled upon it and decided to give it a try. And when it eventually did come out, I didn’t even take notice and completely forgot about it. When its release came closer I lost interest. When Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD was announced, I was actually really interested.
